“Someone asked Dali: “What is fashionable?” and he answered, “what is out of fashion”.
Taking into account this postulate, a group of observers intend to glimpse a vanguard in the anti-global no trends.
Our goal is to observe everyday life and point out the uncool circuits, the anti-hegemonic culture.
From an objective and sharp look of the no trends, we want to make this “off culture” known because it is left aside by what it seems emergent.”
I was intrigued by the above manifesto, the TheUncoolhunter website and the work of its correspondents worldwide, so I sent off a request to join the network as a correspondent myself.
To my surprise and delight, I received an email this morning from TheUncoolhunter Editor and Founder, Javier Lourenco (Buenos Aires, AR):
“Hi Richard,
Nice to meet you! How are you? Thank you for contacting us. Of course you are invited to join our uncool family.”
Javier went on to add that I could contribute “without any deadline, just for fun”, which is GOOD - after I emailed them I started having reservations and preparing my “thanks, yeah do this all the time, its a bad habit of biting off more than I chew… ” script response.
Anyway, this could be fun and I am looking forward to it.
Stay tuned, I’ll excerpt any contributions I make here and tag the posts, “TheUncoolhunter”
“Theuncoolhunter.com is a website/magazine designed for a reader who wants to enrich him or herself with information related to the new trends. In order to stand out from the other, let’s say, conventional websites of coolhunting and trendscouting, The Uncoolhunter wants to go further and show the other face of the trend: the no trend and worship the uncool (the trash, the bizarre, the kitsch, the cheap pretentious, the expensive sold to a lower price, the freak, the badly designed, the surreal, the hyper-real, the incoherent, the under professional, the under scientific and the underdeveloped).
A group of everyday life observers makes it possible.”
