News: May Location Scouting in Red Hook, Brooklyn

News: Scouted locations for a Maxim Magazine (NYC) spread photographed by Christian Lantry (NYC).

The location used was the classic gritty industrial Brooklyn location, The NY Shipyard, a one time actual full scale shipyard that had deteriorated (or elevated depending on how you look at it;-) into a gone-to-seed industrial wasteland, a veritable image-makers playground!

Alas, all things must pass; the property was sold to (I am told) Ikea and will soon be a parking lot. The Maxim Magazine shoot was the farewell shoot for the Shipyard as a film/photo location.

  • update - there is definitely an Ikea in Red Hook now.
