This is an ambitious notion – will it work? In a way its kind of kewl- you are paying for content you want to see – you can contribute in other ways – in fact the aim of the producers is to make the film:
- freely downloadable
- shareable
- remixable
Or will the result be just some web2.0 Tower of Babel?
From the Swarm of Angels website:
“Find out about the team, our press, opportunities available to members, and access the downloadable media here as the project progresses.
Team: who is involved Press: publicity & materials Opportunities: help us make a feature film! As the project develops you will also find links to media downloads (including podcasts), and scripts here.
The film projects
Two scripts are being created for production. Members of the Swarm help develop these projects and get to greenlight which moves into production through a vote.
These are the original pitches:
The Unfold A disaffected Musician receives a phone call from his Mother, who everyone believed died a decade ago, triggering a search to rescue her inside ‘The Fold’. He sets off on a journey where he must confront family secrets, a shadowy organisation, Cell Division, and a strange dimensional force that threatens to destroy the world.
Glitch
A videogame artist recreates his childhood love as an idoru. A voyeuristic cable installer meddles in his customers lives. A neglected housewife finds evidence of an affair on a lost phone. In a world of the wireless, the powerless, and the loveless, it is time they all made a connection.”
In any case it’s an adventuresome and interesting concept!
