ATTN – International Crews: Get Your Production Insurance in Order!
If you are a foreign film / photo production planning to work on location in the United States and / or more specifically, in the New York City area, you may or may not be aware that use of just about any private property, as well as many public venues and towns / municipalities (New York City included, for film / video) as a location will require you to provide proof of commercial liability insurance providing coverage of at least $2m US in the form of a certificate of insurance and naming same (property owner / venue / town or municipality) third-party additionally insured. These or similar conditions apply to many gear / equipment rental agreements as well.
Furthermore, any insurance you may have in your home country must provide coverage abroad and that coverage must be recognized and accepted by all parties involved in the United States.
Fear not, there are many insurance brokers nationwide in the U.S. that offer affordable short-term production insurance packages. The insurance company I usually work with was charging about $650 for a 14 day package last time I spoke with them.

Reel Jersey Film Festival Part Dieux | Film Festival Gems
Saturday September 27 was a sort of dreary day weather-wise, so it was a perfect day for trying to pack in seeing as many film festival films as possible.
I managed to see four films on Saturday at the Reel Jersey Film Festival (in the order I saw them):
Story of the Scene: ‘Chariots of Fire’, Hugh Hudson (1981) – The Independent

Reel Jersey Film Festival: WeirdNJ Party / Midnight Movie: The Blood Shed
I got to the party at Williams Center in Rutherford, NJ around 10:30 pm; fortunately, there was still plenty of “Joisey-cuisine” – icy cold Busch beer and White Castle burgers left to drink and eat!
While The Coffin Daggers got ready for their set, the screen in the grand old Rivoli Theater played scenes from a very diverse variety of b-movie horror and soft-core 60′s nudie flicks (just like a midnite movieAt around 11:15pm The Coffin Daggers played an excellent set of hard-driving and loud surf rock instrumentals, to a horror muxvid loop playing above them, after which the overweight drag couple in matching Bo-Peep-hybrid outfits (I didn’t see any shepherd’s canes
…or sheep, for that matter, but maybe that’s a good thing!
… or maybe they were sposed to be the twins from The Shining? …dunno… ) joined Mark and Mark from WeirdNJ onstage for the raffle drawing. I didn’t win – oh well…
The cast from The Blood Shed took the stage, Mark introduced the film and we were all off and running! (to the comfort of ulphostered theater lounge seats in the Rivoli, that is…)
The Blood Shed is classic Alan Rowe Kelly fare falling somewhere btn the b-movie flicks, John Waters, John Carpenter and Hammer Films (all of who I am sure must be influences for Alan); toss in Alan’s own Jersey je nais se qua…Alan, of course, plays one of the lead characters, the burly “child”, Beeftina Bullion as well as having directed and produced. The whole thing’s just a mad, gory hoot!
I didn’t get a chance to speak with Alan, tho I hope to sometime this weekend at the festival. I did have the wonderful opportunity to meet Alan several years ago at the premiere of I’ll Bury You Tomorrow at the Darress Theater in Boonton, NJ.

The most aggressive region in Korea is Gyeonggi Province through its Gyeonggi Digital Contents Agency, launched in 2004, and the Gyeonggi Film Commission in 2005. Those bodies are behind the construction of a huge complex dubbed “Hallyu-wood,” (hallyu being the term used for “Korean wave” of entertainment) while joining venture capital funds to raise coin for films. Their programs range from the small — renting expensive software to small CG and game production companies — to the large — the Gyeonggi Location Incentive offers cash; this year two films have nabbed $50,000 each.Posted in content, location scouting - management sydicated news Tagged DVD, film, film commissions, film offices, Gyeonggi Digital Contents Agency, Gyeonggi Film Commission, Gyeonggi Province, Korea, location-scouting, locations, news, production, tax incentives Comments OffSpike Lee hopes his Miracle launches a film trend – Malaysia Star
